Sky lanterns are used in many cultures to emphasize celebration: In China, it represents unity and wholeness of the family; In Japan and India, it welcomes good luck in the new year; In Taiwan, it sends wishes and messages to God; In Thailand, it symbolizes problems and worries floating away. To me, the celebration is a cumulation of these ideals- coming together with your loved ones, thanking the lessons learned, and welcoming new memories in the next chapter of life. This image represents the end of a chapter and the start of a new one through a tradition that is meaningful to me as an artist.

"I want to celebrate Draw A Dot with flowers and my favorite color combination: orange/pink! I wanted to create an illustration where the orange dot is in focus surrounded by an interesting composition and softness."
