The painting represents “The Star”- the 17th Major Arcana card. The Star symbolizes faith, hope, and renewal.
The picture depicts a lonely woman kneeling on the edge of pavement above a large canal underneath a starry sky. She is trying to reach a reflection of a star in the water with her left hand (the subconscious) and she’s holding a book in her right hand (the conscious).
The woman kneels in a very delicate position- too close to water-level while leaning on a book. She keeps the ratio while relying on her intuition. The reflection of the star and the pigeon sleeping on a balcony represent our objects of hope-things or situations we desperately wish for to be or to happen. The Star is associated with Aquarius-you can observe the constellation in the night sky.
